Coast Watch Initiative

cid:image001.jpg@01CA7CB4.111B74D0

The DWWMC invited police officers to attend a committee meeting and to introduce the “Coast Watch“ initiative. Coast Watch Wales is an initiative designed to enhance the security of the Welsh coast line and identify both vessels and individuals engaged in suspicious maritime and coastal based activity.
Such activity could be linked to smuggling, organised crime and terrorist activity.
Coast Watch Wales is an amalgamation of specialist officers and agencies that include Customs, Immigration, Police, Coastguard and the Royal Navy. Coast Watch Wales is able to swiftly assess information passed and respond accordingly.
Coast Watch Wales intends to provide an environment that those engaged in criminal activity on the coast of Wales will find difficult to operate in and through effective communication and reporting will be identified and prosecuted.
The intention is to disrupt those engaged in criminal activity through effective communication with the maritime and coastal community and continue to make the coastline and waterways of Wales a safe environment for you to enjoy.
The DWWMC happily support this initiative, and invite members and readers alike to view the link below and maintain extra vigilance whilst out on the Marsh.

Duck enclosure maintenance on TATA

On the 27th Feb 2011, instead of curling up in bed after a long season, a group of willing volunteers happily took part in a work party doing maintenance at the duck enclosure on TATA. The work is highly appreciated.
